Potty Training

So potty training had been a very steep uphill battle for the past year, I would get lucky sometimes and have him pee on the potty but that was very very far and in between.  It was frustrating when  people try to convince you that your child should be trained my 2!  You wouldn't believe the stares and comments i would get at the thought of a 3 year wearing diapers, and him not even interested in the potty.  I had one lady ask me if he was autistic or had some learning disability, this was at church even, can't some people just mind their own business.  Trust me we tried several times to get him to go on the potty but for the longest time he was Terrified! of the toilet, wanted absolutely nothing to do with it, very frustrating.  Then about a month ago we were getting the boys out of the bath and Jayden started to panic at the thought of almost peeing on the floor so we rushed him to the potty and he made it! Still really no luck on consistency, we told him they don't have diapers his size and bought the pull ups and said that you can't stinky in them and if you go on the potty you get a prize and  blah blah blah.  Still really no luck, until one day i caught him pulling the 'face' and was able to get him to the toilet and he finally pooped on the potty! So like we promised we loaded up and he went and chose his cool remote control toy.  It has been all downhill since then, he had one accident since then just because i wasn't quick enough but now i can proudly say my  3 1/2 year old is POTTY TRAINED and only needs to wear pull ups during nap and bed time for the just in case moments. We had a sticker chart that he filled up with all of his potty trips and when he filled one up he wanted to go bowling so we went and got our bowl on!  It really is amazing how just one day he woke and seem to decide that yup, i think i'll start using the big boy potty now!  It is soo nice only having to change one boys diaper a day now!

  1. Don't fret Meagan. My niece refused to be potty trained until she was 3 as well. Even then it took almost a full year to really get her consistent. My poor sister had to clean up several messes off her floor. They tried the underwear only option after trying so many others and told her she can't go potty in big girl panties. It was pretty rough at first and she would cry to wear a diaper. But she'll be 4 next month and can make it through many nights with no accidents. But she's a bit of a stinker and is just too lazy to go to the potty sometimes so they are still working on a if you make it 1 month you get a bunny. (yes a real one)
